IN THE HEART OF APPALACHIA:: KENTUCKY MISSIONS

Ministry in the Heart of the Mountains…

Harlan, KY is where the decline of the coal mining industry has left many people devastated and stuck in a vicious cycle of poverty.  We seek to bring them not only supplies which will help meet their basic needs, but the hope of Christ which can transform their lives.  December trips focus on meeting  physical needs through providing coats, blankets, toys, and food to the community. This enables many families to have a Christmas. We build relationships through public school assemblies, block parties, serving meals, and the Get Real Store, where they come fill bags with all they need for free. Spring brings a new opportunity to serve a meal and provide an evening of fun for an entire community, work projects and many new doors of opportunity.  Each trip we meet new people and we are able to serve in new ways…come and join us in the mountains and help us bring hope to the families of Appalachia.

“Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to him, "Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed," but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.”  James 2:15-17
